Pixie 1 - Succulents

I created this pixie character when I became inspired by the many succulent plants I grow at home. I felt that she should be tough, yet beautiful and I really wanted many succulents represented in her design. For example, I used the stems of a jade plant in the boning of her wings, with an aloe leaf growing from her arms, and spikes from an agave plant growing out of her elbows and ankles. I also used aloe and agave to reference the designs in her wings. I have many more succulents referenced as well.

I really wanted this character to feel like she belonged in the world of succulents. I was originally going to have her full monochromatic with varying shades of green. However I found that many succulents have a contrasting maroon color on the tips of their leaves which gave me the idea to add a little contrast and break up all the green in a more visually pleasing way. I thought this was a really great way to add in the armor pieces without hiding them in her coloring. I really feel that the contrasting reds and purples really add to this character.
